Steiger Ukraine Update - Developing Our Relief Efforts!
As the tragic conflict in Ukraine continues to unfold, Steiger is working hard to more effectively coordinate rescue and relief efforts, establish sustainable rhythms for our people, and make viable plans for a situation that will have countless long-term consequences.
Steiger Europe leader Luke Greenwood and the team from Steiger Poland has been networking with churches and ministries across Europe, creating a pipeline for essential supplies from a receiving facility in Poland, across the border to a warehouse in Lviv, Ukraine. From there, these essential items go out for distribution by our Steiger Ukraine team and others serving in the nation, reaching those in desperate need.
We have now graduated from bringing in van loads of supplies to truckloads, using a tried and successfully tested series of roadways. Two more shipments will go out in the next four days. Please continue to give generously and to pray for protection, wisdom, and strength for all of our teams and those we are networking with around the world.
Our Poland team is also coordinating the reception of many refugees crossing the border into Poland, setting up a network of those offering assistance, hospitality, and jobs. Just today, we received word that 23 people were safely evacuated from Kyiv in our vans!
Steiger’s International Center in Krögis, Germany opened today, receiving the first refugees from our Steiger teams, who we have been able to assist in evacuating. Pray that this space can truly be a safe haven, where those who have been forced to flee from their homes can be welcomed, find rest and care, grieve and heal, and experience the community in Jesus that our Steiger family loves to offer.
We are also standing with and supporting our Steiger teams in Russia and Belarus, all of whom are living this conflict in all its intensity. They have courageously chosen to stay in their cities, continuing to ask God for wisdom in how to respond and reach the people of their nation with the hope of Jesus. Largely cut off from the western world due to sanctions, they too need our prayers, as many are now without work and access to essential financial resources.
